1.Appointment
QCan I see a doctor without an appointment?
Yes you can. However, the patients with appointments would have the priority, so the wait time would be longer.
QCan I make an appointment on the day?
Yes, you can. You can make an appointment by web or phone. For web appointment, you can make an appointment until 19:00 on weekdays, 18:30 on Saturday, and 17:30 on Sunday and holidays.
QHow many months in advance can I make an appointment?
You can make an appointment until 1 year ahead.
2.Health Insurance
QIs there anything I need to bring?
"Please make sure you have Japanese health insurance card which is valid. If you forget to bring the card or if it is invalid(Insurance cards have an expiration date.), you have to pay the full costs (we do not accept insurance from overseas). If you forget, bring the card by the end of the month and we will refund the difference.
For the prescription of eyeglasses; please bring your current glasses. If you do not, we may not be able to issue a prescription.
For glaucoma examination; if you have the result from medical check up, please bring it."
Please wear a mask when visiting the hospital (except for preschool children).

・If you would like a contact lens prescription, please bring something that shows the power of your current lenses (such as the packaging or a sheet of paper with the data).
・We ask that you remove your contact lenses except for visits to get contact lens prescriptions. Please come to the clinic wearing glasses. If you are wearing contacts, please bring your lens case, cleaning solution, spare lenses or glasses. If you do not have them, we will lend you a lens case containing a saline solution and ask you to temporarily remove it during the examination and consultation.
QMy insurance card number has not changed. Can I bring the copy?
Some of other information may have changed, so all patients are required to present their original insurance cards every month.
QCan I still see a doctor even if my insurance card is invalid?
Yes you can, but you will be charged 100%. Please submit the valid card within this month and we will refund the difference between the full co-payment amount and the amount covered by insurance.
3.Examinations and Treatments
QHow long does the examination take?
"It usually takes about an hour and a half in total without an appointment. However, it differs depending on your symptoms and the circumstances.
We can tell you the estimated wait time if you call us."
QIs it possible to get my baby checked?
We can see babies from 0 days after birth at anytime. We have the pediatric ophthalmologist on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday(~13:45). Please make an appointment prior to visit.
QMy child was diagnosed with strabismus. Can we visit to see a doctor?
We opened pediateic ophyhalmology in April 2020, and the specialist is working on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday(~13:45. Please make an appointment prior to visit.
QI am a minor, but can I see a doctor alone?
You can visit alone. But if you are under 15 and would like to get a contact lens prescriptions for the first time, you need to come with your guardian.
QRed eye is the only symptom I have right now. Is it possible to see a doctor?
Please feel free to visit our clinic if you have any symptoms related to eyes, such as subconjunctival hemorrhage. There is a possiblity that you have some eye diseases.
QI have a symptom around my eyes. Can I go to an ophthalmology?
If you have a symptom close to your eyes, please visit an ophthalmology. We may introduce another clinic or hospital, if your doctor decides it is necessary.
QCan I have a surgery for chalazion on the day?
The decision is up to the doctor, but you can have a surgery on the day depending on the circumstances. Please come to see a doctor first.
QI have a glaucoma suspect. How much is the medical fee? How much does it take?
The medical fee is approximately 4,500 yen with insurance card, and 10.000 yen without insurance card, for the first visit. The required time is approximately 1 hour. (

QI don't have any symptoms, but I'm worried about glaucoma or other eye diseases. Can I have a check-up?
Yes, you can. The doctor decides examinations you have to take, and find out whether you have any eye diseases or risks. Please consult about your concerns with the doctor.
QI want to have cataract surgery. What procedures are required before surgery?
The doctor will determine if you are suitable for surgery. We conduct basic examinations first and if you need to have a surgery, you will have further examinations for it. The date of surgery will be decided after consultation. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.
QCan I specify the date and time of cataract surgery?
Generally, it’s on Monday. You can specify the date if it is available.
QHow long does eye dilation lasts?
It is different depending on person, but it will last about five to six hours.
4.Contact lens
QI wear contact lenses. What should I do before seeing a doctor?
"You need to remove your contact lenses before the examination. We would keep it until the consultation finishes (for contact lenses which cannot be worn once removed are exceptions). You may also not be able to wear contact lenses after the consultation depending on the diagnosis, so we recommend to come wearing the glasses.
Please be sure to bring the glasses too, if you will visit wearing contact lenses."
QCan I get a prescription for contact lenses at the clinic?
QHow long does it take, if it is the first time getting contact lenses prescribed?
You need practice for putting on and removing the contact lens in order to finalize the contact lens prescription process, so it usually takes more than 2 hours aside from choosing your contact lenses. Please make an appointment in advance.
QThis is the first time for me to use contact lens. Can I get the prescription on the day?
"We issue the prescription after the product and the power are decided, and get checked by the doctor.
After that, you need to learn and practice how to put in/remove contact lenses.
If you cannot master it on the day, we would keep your prescription at our clinic. It would be expired in a month, so please be sure to come back for the practice before that.
It takes time for practice. We recommend to make an appointment in advance."
QWhat is the expiration period of contact lens prescription?
It is valid for 30 days. Please purchase before the expiry date
QCan I get prescriptions for both contact lenses and glasses on the same day?
Yes. But you need to get different examinations for each prescription, it may take longer time.
QCan I buy contact lenses on the spot?
There is a contact lenses shop (J contact) next to our clinic. You can hand in the prescription and purchase the contact lenses on the spot if they have the contact lenses in stock.
QThe lens sticks in my eye and I have not been able to removed it.
Please apply an eye drop if you have one. If you don’t have any, just close your eyes for a while and moisten your eyes with your tears. When the lens places in the center of cornea, please try again to take off lens in usual way. In the case still you can’t take off, please hold down eyelid gently with your eyes closed and move your eyeball to the side of ear. And then, lens will come rising up. If the lens does not come off even with those, please try to blink in the water filling washbowl.
If you can’t take off lens with all effort, you need to consult us. Please contact us when there remaining hyperemia or pain.
QCan a contact lens get lost behind my eyeball?
It is impossible. The inner surface of the eyelids has a sac-like tissue called the "conjunctival sac" which folds back and becomes the outer covering of the white part of the eyeball, so it prevents foreign matters from going behind the eye. If you feel a foreign body sensation, it is because the lens dropped or got pinched between the eyelids and the eyeballs, so please consult us.
5.Medicine
QCan I get medicine here? Or outside?
You can get medicine at a pharmacy outside the clinic.
QCan someone in my family get medicine on behalf of me?
Your family members can visit the clinic to have a consultation and get the prescription in behalf of you, if you have been to our clinic before. In that case, please make sure to bring your health insurance card and your family’s ID card.
QMy eyes haven't got better even though I have used the medicine you prescribed. Does it mean the medicine hasn't worked for me?
We cannot give a decision whether the medicine has worked or not unless you come to see the doctor. Please come to the clinic and ask the doctor in person.
QCan you reissue a prescription for medicine?
We cannot reissue a prescription for medicine. A prescription expires in 4 days including the date of issue. In general, if a prescription is expired, you cannot use it and you need to have a consultation again.
6.Payment and Documents
QDo I have to pay extra charge if I come to the clinic in the evening or on holidays?
We charge you extra fee if you come to the clinic after 6 pm on weekdays. Also, we charge the fee after 12 o'clock on Saturdays and all day on Sundays or national holidays.
QCould you write a medical certificate for me?
Yes we can. Please tell that to the receptionist, and you would consult with the doctor.
It is not covered by the insurance, so you need to pay full cost 5,500 yen in addition to the examination and consultation fees.
QHow much does a referral cost?
If your health insurance covers 70% of the medical fee, it will be 750 yen. If it covers 90%, it will be 250 yen.
QCould I use credit cards or electronic money?
We accept VISA, Union Pay and Mastercard.
7.Others
QI have a large baggage, is there a place to leave it?
You can leave your luggage at our reception during the examination and consultation. Please feel free to ask the staff.
QIs there a car or bicycle parking?
QI’m a wheelchair user. Do you have an easily accessible environment?
Yes. You can visit our clinic with a wheelchair or stroller. If you would like, please use the elevator on the right side which is equipped with a large mirror.
QWould it be possible to go out if I have to wait for a long time? In that case, could you give me a phone call before my turn comes?
You can go out while the waiting time. If you wish to go out, please tell our staff at the reception desk. Unfortunately, we do not give a phone call or an email to let you know your turn. Please tell us the approximate time you will be back before going out.
QIs there a bathroom inside the clinic?
There is no bathroom inside the clinic, but you can use the one on the same floor.
